James Cameron´s Avatar has been shrouded in so much mystery, many were starting to wonder if it was just so awful he couldn´t bear to show it to anyone. Not so apparently, according to Zoe Saldana in a recent interview “It made my imagination infinite”.
Director James Cameron is no newbie to the land of sci-fi, with classics like Terminator, Alien, and The Abyss.
Still, even he took 15 years to get Avatar to the big screen because some of the special effects simply couldn´t be done before.
Avatar´s storyline is all about an ex-Marine who finds himself caught in the middle on an alien planet filled with exotic life forms, called the Na’vi, who have their own language and culture. Using a life-like artificial body called an avatar, he finds himself torn between two worlds, in a desperate fight for his own survival and that of the indigenous people.
But there´s more to this movie than just awesome special effects, says hot Star Trek actress Zoe Saldana, who plays one of the main characters: “I really hope that people are going to find out how special it is because the story resembles one of the issues that we’re tackling right now as a human society. We don’t get political or religious, but it just has a beautiful message that will inspire people.”
Still, it wasn´t all a walk in the park for Saldana, who at the start had little knowledge of computers: “I barely knew how to turn on a computer. And, Jim would use these big, big words, trying to explain it to me. He gave me a very warm and slow introduction into how the process was going to be.”

Thanks to Cameron´s patient explanations, Zoe grew more and more confident: ”After we understood how it was done, it was almost, in some ways, like going back to shooting a regular movie because it really brought the child out. It made my imagination infinite, in terms of taking everything away that’s around you and leaving you with just your mind to work. This world was more alive than any book I’ve ever read or any movie I’ve ever seen.
